How Do I Know If I Have Bed Bugs in my Hotel Room?

It is common knowledge that hotel rooms are not always the cleanest places to visit. Dirty remote controls, light switches and telephones are not the only places to be concerned about picking up an unwanted bug. Bed bugs can be introduced into and infest any hotel room. Bed bugs do not only infest inexpensive roadside motels. We have represented hundreds of people attacked by bed bugs in 4 and 5 star resorts and hotels. Some of our clients stayed in rooms costing over $500.00 per night and were still bitten by bed bugs and had their trips ruined.

Most people are not properly educated on bed bugs and how they can affect you. Even fewer people are aware of the significant danger that bed bugs pose. Thankfully, we have been working in the area of Bed Bug Law for years and can give some good advice on what to do when traveling to avoid bed bug injuries.

Before setting down your belongings:

· Search along the mattress seams, as well as under the mattress. The bed frame joints, cracks and crevices are perfect places for bed bugs to hide and wait for a meal.
· Look for black stains on the mattress or sheets.
· Look for blood stains on the mattress or sheets
· Search furniture near the bed for live bugs or shed bed bug skins

If you think your room has bed bugs, report everything to hotel management and request a change of rooms or a refund. Do not accept a room which shares a wall, ceiling or floor with the infested room. Bed bugs spread by crawling through small crevices in the walls in search for new victims.
