Our bed bug attorneys recovered in excess of $22,000.00 for a family of three, which sustained many bed bug bites and related injuries at a Ramada hotel in Kissimmee, Florida. Our clients, Mrs. G, Mr. D and Sas (clients’ real names are not provided) checked into the hotel for a 6 night stay. On the 3rd day of their stay, they were moved to another room due to repairs that had to be done to the roof of their room. On the first night of their stay in the new room, Mrs. G awoke itching and observed bed bugs all over her. Then, Mrs. G awoke Mr. D and Sas. All of our clients had multiple bed bugs in their beds and bites on their bodies.

Next, Mr. D reported his findings and observations to two representatives at the hotel. The representatives took photos and created a report. Our clients were then moved to a new room. That evening, neither Mrs. G nor Mr. D were able to sleep out of fear of being attacked by bed bugs again. As the days progressed many more red and itchy bumps appeared on our clients’ bodies.

It is not uncommon for a victim of a bed bug infestation to seek counseling with a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist or licensed mental health counselor.

Upon leaving the hotel, our clients discarded all of their belongings they had in the room with them. These items totaled thousands of dollars. Over the course of the next several weeks, our clients required multiple doctors appoints and incurred thousands of dollars in medical bills. Furthermore, Mr. D and Mrs. G required treatment with a psychiatrist. Mr. D suffered from flashbacks, nightmares, depression and anxiety. Mrs. G had symptoms similar to Mr. D. They were both diagnosed with phobic disorder, depressive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. A treatment plan was prescribed by their treating psychiatrist.

We argued to the third party administrator on behalf of the insurance carrier for the hotel that the injuries and damages suffered by our clients were a result of Ramada’s negligence, concealment of the bugs and violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. In the end we were able to reach a fast settlement, which was exactly what our clients wanted. Several weeks later, our clients came by our office and picked up their checks. Mr. D thanked us many times for our honesty and securing a great recovery for him and his family.
